• Welcome!

The purpose of this site is to aquaint you with our imprint and to tell you about the books we sell. In an excess of reticence, perhaps, we keep the commercial pitch behind the green tabs above. Using them you can learn about us, our products, and other matters.

What you see in front of you is our blog—a free-wheeling discussion about books, reading, literature, language, and much else likely to interest our customers—people who read books. Please comment and participate.

And we'd really love it if you would buy our books.

Unopened Pages

Now that Paul has eloquently covered what all of us neophytes have always called—and will continue to call—“uncut pages,” herewith an image of unopened pages, the correct term, according to Paul, courtesy of My Wings Books, from its webpage here. The page is worth a visit in order to learn further arcana about pages and their artful treatment with various kinds of cutting instruments. By way of a teaser, we shall merely mention, but not describe, deckle edges, cut pages, and trimmed pages. In this aspect of book-making (and never mind the kind where bets are taken) the world grows ever more elaborate the closer you peer into its depths.
